Here are the three keys to answering the question "how to build a successful chiropractic practice":
- See more patients.
- Keep patients on treatment plans through to completion.
- Maximize the lifetime value of each patient.
You can double your practice by implementing 2 of these 3 items, and here's a hint - seeing more patients isn't one of the first two things to do.
Seeing more patients is dependent upon having enough marketing success to increase patient flow.
Keeping patients on treatment plans through relief care, corrective care, and ultimately stabilization relies on a well-developed, visual patient education program. Keep in mind that people learn and absorb information in different ways; some like to read, some like graphics, and others prefer video… use all three. The following video shows a report generated with our automated ROF builder. Effectively using text information, graphics, and video to educate your patients, this automated ROF builder allows patients to learn in their preferred way.
Maximizing the lifetime value of patients requires attention to patient retention and this often-overlooked strategy requires definitive proof of treatment progress and success. Patients stay on treatment longer when they know for sure that they are progressing… even after symptoms have subsided. A graph is a very successful way to illustrate how your patients are progressing.

In a study performed at Stanford University, it was determined that:
- One of the easiest ways to ensure that learners store information in their long-term memory is to pair concepts with meaningful images.
- Visuals have been found to improve learning by up to 400%. Also, they affect learners on a cognitive level and stimulate imagination, therefore, enabling users to process the information faster.
- Visuals cause a faster and stronger reaction than words. They help users engage with the content, and such emotional reactions influence information retention.
Master the three keys to building a successful chiropractic practice, and you will find the growth you seek.
If you stop reading this article now, you will be like the patient that quits treatment early - your pain will return, and you will slip back into the same growth issues. That's right; your symptoms may feel as if they have improved, but your condition has not yet been corrected.
“We are finding the system to be a very important and valuable resource for our ROFs and it is definitely helping the overall close rate! We were just able to upload a knee x ray and it really brings the report to life!”
“I don’t know why any practice would not use this. It’s easy, inexpensive and makes patient education really easy!”
"Don’t change the price on me... but after seeing the demo I expected you to tell me it was $10,000 plus a monthly fee”
How to Build a Highly Successful Chiropractic Practice From an Average Practice
Let's assume that a small to average sized Chiropractic practice typically sees 5 new patients per week. Lets further assume, these patients come in for 6 visits, and each visit typically has a value of $57.69 to the practice. This will vary from practice to practice and market to market but it wouldn't be hard for you to figure out the exact numbers for your practice. In our example, the typical patient value to the practice is $358.02.
As a chiropractor, you know that the patient often needs more treatment than 6 visits, or they will simply have their symptoms relieved. If they stop treatment after the symptoms subside, they will soon fall back into pain and conclude that chiropractic care doesn't work. How many times have we all heard someone say, "I've tried chiropractic care, and it just didn't work for me"?
We know this isn't the case. The patient stopped treatment prior to having the root cause of the pain corrected and through proper treatment reach the stage of stabilization. How would it help your patients and grow your practice if you could keep patients on a treatment program for 14 visits, 24 visits, 36 visits, or more?
The quick math for our example tells us that 14 visits raises the patient value to $807.66, and 24 visits increase the case value to $1,384.56. These numbers exclude treatments like spinal decompression, which we all know can be significantly higher.
We acknowledge that becoming a Chiropractor is not exclusively about money. However, increasing the number of treatments for a patient will help that person experience a better quality of life. And the increased revenue won't hurt your practice.
This is the quickest way to double, triple, or even quadruple your practice without bringing in one new patient. It costs so much to generate a new patient that it makes sense to maximize the lifetime value of each one of them provided that you are ethically helping them make progress.
Chiropractic Marketing and the Impact This Will Have on Your ROI
When you consider chiropractic marketing and look at the cost to acquire a new patient, you start to realize that he or she who can afford to spend the most to acquire a new patient wins. If you can raise the value of a case from $358.02 to either $807.66 or $1,384.56, you can now afford to compete with the practices that advertise the most aggressively online, and you'll see your practice grow exponentially.
So how does a chiropractor keep patients on treatment plans until they reach maximum medical benefit? Here's where we're going to correct your growth issues.
Chiropractic Report of Findings - Patient Education and Retention Program
A friend, a well-known Chiropractor throughout the US, built his practice to 1100 patients per week in less than 1 year using a complex system to show patients' progress. This system utilized a mathematical formula to chart patient progress after each re-exam.
He shared the system with us, and our software team automated it to make it easy for every Chiropractor in the country to use. You don't have to be technical or invest a lot of time to do this. It takes less than 60 seconds after an exam to complete.
Most Chiropractors tell us that they do re-exams every 3 to 4 weeks with patients on longer-term programs. So, with this system, you will invest another 60 seconds per patient monthly to grow your practice by a multiple of between 2 and 4. Is it worth 60 seconds per patient monthly to build a highly successful chiropractic practice?
This report of findings system not only helps your case manager educate patients so the practice can improve its case acceptance rate but also helps any practice show quantifiable results on a graph that prove how a patient is progressing during treatment. When you can educate and show a person the progress he or she is making, you will see that patient stay on the program longer, so they reach the maximum benefit.
Are there other ways this system can help a Chiropractor grow a practice?
Yes, we have automated the reports of findings. This system creates an in-depth report of findings that your case manager can use to increase your case acceptance rate. Using these reports helps provide a consistent presentation that has proven to help Chiropractors treat more patients.
Is This a Report of Findings a Template?
No, it's an interactive report of findings builder. Here's how it works.
After your initial exam and x-rays (if you choose to do imaging), add the patient's name and email to the system and check the applicable boxes. Let's say the patient has a herniated disc; you would select herniated disc and check the boxes next to the answers that apply to the patient's condition. It takes less than 2 minutes to create a detailed report of findings. Chiropractors have reported to us that this report has helped them increase case acceptance rate by up to 78% (this varies depending on the practice).
With 2 clicks, you can email access to the report to the patient. Our HIPAA compliant servers allow the patient to create a login in 10 seconds and view the report.
This is one of the easiest and least expensive ways you will ever find to grow your practice. Every practice uses some type of Chiropractic software, this is quicker and easier to use than any we've seen, and it's not intended to replace your current software. This is intended to complement the software that you have and help you grow your practice.
